Gantt, List Item, and Resource reports offer a number of options to link to the content being reported on. These options are mostly from the Column Settings section on the Reporter Settings page.

Link Column

The optional link column provides a direct link to the item being reported on, e.g. Task item etc. If it is a project site, this means the Project Statement item associated with the project site. You can control how this link behaves. The default setting for most reports is for the item to open in a dialog, this means you can edit list items on other sites from a central location.

The available options include:

  • Dialog
Selecting Dialog means links will open items in the pop-up dialog.
This means you can view and edit individual list items and stay in the context of the page or report you are on. Most importantly, this works across sites and lists, meaning you can edit items in different lists and sites from the one location in a site collection.
  • Same Window/Tab
Link will open in the same browser tab (or window) as the report.
  • New Window/Tab Once Only
Link will open in the same separate browser tab (or window).
  • New Window/Tab Each Time
Link will open in a new browser tab (or window) every time.

Project Link

The Project Link columns (text or icon) make reporting on items in a Projects Tracker list easier as the column can discriminate between projects in the Projects Tracker list and projects that have their own site. The column is available either as a text link, called Project Link or as an icon, called Project Link Icon.

If the project is one that has its own site, clicking the link opens the project site. If the project is in a Projects Tracker list, clicking the link opens the Project Statement according to 'Open the Link in a' setting at the bottom of the Column Settings section on the Reporter Settings page. (Tip: Use Ctrl-click to force either type to open in a new browser tab).

Site Name

Site Name links directly to the home page of the site the item is in. You can control the caption for the column in the Rendering and Performance section on the Reporter settings page. Site Name uses the site Title property for the text.

List Name

List Name links directly to the default view of the list the item is in. You can control the caption for the column in the Rendering and Performance section on the Reporter settings page.
