The List of Lists enables you to specify the lists to be queried by BrightWork Reporter by adding the name of the lists you want to be queried to a specific list (called the List of Lists).

  • The List of Lists works on a web by web basis, i.e. the list of lists only affects the lists in the web in which it is located.
  • To create your own List of Lists, simply create a BrightWork or SharePoint custom list.
  • To add a list to the List of Lists, navigate to the relevant List of Lists, click New on the list toolbar and enter the display name of the list in question.
  • The reports available on the Work and My Work pages are setup to use a list of lists called 'Report Work - List'.
  • The reports available on the Issue pages are setup to use a list of lists called 'Report Issues - List'.

Create a List of Lists

To create a list of lists just create a new list using the BrightWork Custom list and use the name specified in the report or on the Edit List Inclusion Settings page.

  • The reports available on the Work and My Work pages are setup to use a list of lists called 'Report Work - List'.
  • The reports available on the Issue pages are setup to use a list of lists called 'Report Issues - List'.

List Collection Provider

  • A piece of code, called the List Collection provider, in the Report Definition, tells the report which List of List to look at.
  • If the provider and list of lists exists, only the lists named in the list will be queried by BrightWork Reporter (provided the lists are detailed appropriately in the report definition XML).
  • By default, with the supplied reports , if the provider exists and the named List of Lists does not exist in a web, then all lists in the web will be queried by BrightWork Reporter (provided the lists are detailed appropriately in the report definition XML - please see Edit List Inclusion Settings for more information on this.
  • If you want to disable the List Collection provider, you can delete or rename the List of Lists on a web by web basis; however, be aware the multiple reports in a single web often depend on the one List of Lists. Alternatively, you can Edit the List Inclusion Settings and set the report to Include all lists.
