We occasionally get asked about how to create a historical record of report data so as to be able to compare current conditions with the past. Unfortunately, given the dynamic nature of data in SharePoint, this is not as easy as you would expect.

Essentially, you have two options:

  • Export a report to Excel and compare reports.
  • Print a page (e.g. the Weekly Status report page on the Projects dashboard) to an XPS or PDF file and save the file to a suitable location such as a document library in the project site.
