Problem

You see the below message in a SharePoint view:

One or more field types are not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete these fields.

AND/OR

You see the below message when working with a SharePoint list:

Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes (xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx).

Cause

The view or list being displayed or used includes lookup columns in a BrightWork list to a column in a BrightWork list that does not exist.

Certain BrightWork lists contain lookup columns to columns in other BrightWork lists. For the lists containing the lookup column to function correctly, you must either delete the lookup columns in the original list, or create the list(s) containing the columns looked up to and run the BrightWork List Lookup settings repair utility - the latter procedure is described below.

Solution - Repairing Broken Lookups

If you create a BrightWork list in a web containing at least one lookup column to another BrightWork list, you must also create the list(s) that it looks up to and then use the BrightWork Lookup settings page to repair the broken lookup(s).

  1. Consult the Lookup Relationship Map to establish what lists the newly created list contains lookups to.
  2. Add the missing lists to the same site.
  3. Return to the original list and click List | List Settings.
  4. Click Lookup settings (BrightWork).
  5. Ensure that the correct list is selected in the List drop-down menu.
  6. Click Configure for every list.
