Available in BrightWork Reporter, the Work Cache data source is designed as an alternative for work and issue reports that report across multiple sites. The Work Cache enables faster cross-site reporting.
The Work Cache gets updated whenever a relevant work item gets added, updated, or is deleted in a project list. This happens immediately via a queue. If there is a high volume of usage, there may be short delays before the work item change is reflected in a Work Cache report.
The Work Cache honors your security settings and will only show work items that individuals have permission to see. This places an effective size limit due to performance on the Work Cache of 5,000 items.
Items from a number of lists are included in the Work Cache including: Tasks, Goals, Issues, and Risks. See here for the full list. Some work items are not mirrored to the Work Cache and these exceptions are outlined here.
Note: If you are importing a high volume of items, you may reach the timeout threshold of 15 minutes, leaving some work items in the Work Cache update queue and out of reports. There are two ways you can approach this:
Before you first use the Work Cache it must be enabled.
The Work Cache is maintained by a timer job:
To perform a manual refresh or to update the Work Cache see the following topic.
The BrightWork Work Cache timer job will skip any sites that are excluded from reports, such as closed or archived sites.
The Work Cache has Views that can be selected in BrightWork Reporter. By default, the views provided filter work items by Open Work, My Work, or Issues.
