What's new in BrightWork 15.18?

The BrightWork 15.18 release has the following main updates:

Boards - Manual Sorting

Cards in Boards can now be manually sorted within columns by dragging and dropping the cards.

Resource Apportioning

List Item Reports and Resource Reports now support grouping by one multi-user Person or Group column.
Resource Reports and List Item Reports support columns being apportioned evenly between the individuals.

Boards - Advanced Card Styling

Advanced card styling gives IT professionals and developers full control of card styling.

Template Updates

A number of significant changes have been made to the out of the box templates. See the How can I activate the new 15.18 features section below for more details.

How can I upgrade BrightWork?

If you want to upgrade the latest version of BrightWork, visit the Product Download area of the BrightWork Success website.

Choose the version of SharePoint you are on and select Browse Download.

If you are logged into the website and have product download access you will be brought to the relevant product download site for that version of SharePoint.

If you are not logged in you will be brought to a request form where you can either log in or request product download membership. Product Downloads are for customers who have an active support and upgrade plan.

Use the instructions on the Upgrade BrightWork page to start upgrading to the latest BrightWork version.

If you are installing for the first time, then use the instructions on the Install BrightWork page.

How can I activate the new 15.18 features

Most updates are available automatically with this release.

Template updates made this release include:

  • Project Lite, Project Standard, and Project Structured:
    • Project Statement: a link to open the project statement item in a dialog is available from the Quick Launch. This was removed previously when JavaScript was no longer supported in the Quick Launch. This is now restored and uses the Open in Dialog feature.
    • Project Tasks - All Items Gantt: replaced the Gantt Chart web part for all tasks. This is using the new editable Gantt Chart.
      'Task Reports' link on Quick Launch now opens the 'Project Tasks - All Items Gantt' page by default.
      Report Tabs list's 'Project Tasks' Page Group, now sorts 'All Items Gantt' first, and 'Active Items Gantt' second.
  • Project Area, Project Office, and Portfolio sites:
    • Projects Gantt page (for Project Cache reporting) is now using the Gantt Chart web part. The Gantt Chart is configured to use the Project Cache data source.
  • Work Tracker:
    • Added a BrightWork Page called Work Tracker - Gantt.
      Add a Tabs web part, configured to use the Overall page group.
      Add a Gantt Chart web part configured to use the Work Tracker list.
    • Added it to the Report Tabs list, Overall page group at position 3, title is Work Gantt

How can I purchase additional licenses?

How can I find my BrightWork version number?

  1. On your BrightWork home page, click the settings icon in the top right, then click Site settings.
  2. At the bottom of the page, click BrightWork Settings.
  3. You will now see the Version number.

How can I find my license key?

Contact Support with the FARM GUID to receive a copy of the license key.

How can I renew my BrightWork support and upgrade plan?

Support and upgrade plans are renewed on an annual basis. You will be contacted approximately 45 days prior to the expiration of your plan with the details required to start the renewal paperwork process. If your main contact has changed or you would like to start the process earlier, please contact Customer Success.
